David Mergen hails from
Cleveland Ohio where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland
Institute of Music in 1996 studying with Alan Harris. He moved to Los
Angeles upon graduation and here studied with the former Principal Cellist of
the LA Philharmonic, Ronald Leonard. David completed his Master of Music
degree at USC in 1998. Mr. Mergen performs throughout Southern California
and beyond in orchestras as the Riverside County Philharmonic, the Chamber
Orchestra at St. Matthew’s and in the Tucson Symphony. He is the Principal
cellist of the West Hollywood Orchestra with whom he recently gave his debut
performance in the Cello Concerto of Antonin Dvorak and received rave reviews
from the ‘Beverly Hills Outlook’. David is a studio recording
artist, and performs in a number of interesting ensembles: Synergy (modern
Jewish chamber ensemble); Camerata Tango (ensemble which blends tango, classical
music with pantomime, dance, acrobatics and poetry) and an electronica band
headed by George Sarah.
