Melissa Phelps, violinist,
gained recognition by age
ten when she soloed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. She graduated from
the Crossroads School for the Arts and Sciences, was a Dorothy Delay student
(New England Conservatory of Music), and she received a BA degree in music from
CSUN. Awards she has garnered are: V.O.C.E., top honors from the
Young Artists' Guild and she was an award winner in the International Coleman
Competition. Melissa has soloed with and was an orchestral/chamber musician
for festivals in: Banff, Ojai, Aspen, Sun Valley, Santa Fe, Mainly Mozart,
and Spoleto Festival. Her radio and TV broadcasts and recordings span the
globe. She is concertmaster of the St. Cecilia Opera Orchestra and
the Ventura Master Chorale, and she performs with the New West and Santa Barbara
Symphonies. She is a regular substitute in the Los Angeles Philharmonic
Orchestra. Melissa is Professor of Violin at Cal-Lutheran University.
